Pam & Garry's Great Adventures!

Day 4 – Alaska Highway – The Yukon

Today was a sunnier day, though we did get a few sprinkles. We traveled through the southern part of the Yukon Territory, which passes through Whitehorse, the capital and the general area where over 2/3 of the entire population of the Yukon Territory reside. Population roughly 26,000 in Whitehorse alone (entire Yukon Territory is roughly 45,000).

We stopped for a short hike to Rancheria Falls… because I can never pass up a waterfall!

We did see black bears #3 and #4. #3 we weren’t able to get a picture of, as we weren’t able to stop. Here is #4. Sorry, it is hard to get a good picture, as they are on the side of the road, and moving, and you are trying to stop on a shoulder that isn’t super wide, while watching for traffic (which there hasn’t been much of). They are just the cutest though!

This is the stopping spot we found for the night (just to the east of Haines Junction, YT, I believe).

By the way, it is 10 p.m. and you would think it is 4:00 p.m. – It is so light out. We are having to use our blackout curtains each night!

Gizmo says goodnight!
